Baron’s Delayed Speech Improved with Chiropractic Care

My son, Baron, was diagnosed with a speech delay at approximately 18 months in age.  At this point, his receptive and expressive speech was accessed as that of a 12 month old (approximately 10 words and a lot of babbling).  He was provided services through a children’s hospital which included speech as well as occupational therapy.  He also received home visits for speech therapy all with on-going assessments and suggestions for us to practice at home. He made slight progress and was approved to begin school at age 3, which was very difficult for me as I am a stay at home/work from home mom and didn’t want to send him to school and away from me at such a young age.

Over the next few months Baron made slight progress although he did become more outgoing due to his social interactions at school.  Still there was no significant improvement and he still lagged behind approximately a year (which in pre-school terms is quite a bit).

One night while tossing and turning over his speech delays, I decided to to research chiropractic options based on an experience I had heard regarding speech improvement from chiropractic adjustments.  Through my research, I located Baker Chiropractic and Wellness and was very impressed immediately.

The website provided valuable information, was user friendly (actually allowed me to schedule on-line) and had a wealth of experience in treatments for many areas to include infants and children with issues such as autism.

I scheduled Baron’s appointment. He was assessed by Dr. Brock Frear and his therapy/adjustments began.  In very little time, I noticed significant improvement.  Within approximately two weeks he no longer snored, something he had been doing from about age one.  He also seemed to breathe much better and not so labored during sleep.  Next we saw improvement as he progressed from two to three words, to sentences and the ability to express his wants and needs.  He went from pointing or saying “eat” to saying, “I’m hungry, I need to eat breakfast.”  He now tells us if he wants a waffle or cereal, etc.  This is wonderful because before this it was trial and error, giving him foods when I thought he should be hungry and seeing which one he would eat.

His expressive and receptive speech has improved at a tremendous speed and his overall vocabulary is too great to count at this point.  He still has improvements to make in engaging in conversation but I am sure this too will come.

I have but one regret, honestly…I wish I had known about this three years ago.  I would have taken him to Dr. Brock much earlier and avoided many tears, worries and sleepless nights stressing over his lack of speech.*
