My first visit to Baker Chiropractic and Wellness was on January 26th, 2015. I had a motorcycle crash in early December of 2014 and shattered my left clavicle, had neck injuries, and the worst concussion I’ve ever had. I had surgery and after a little more than a month I started to come in for my back and therapy for my neck and shoulder.
The crash was on December 6th, 2014 and I had surgery December 15th, 2014. The only other treatment I had at that point was my orthopedic surgery. The break in my clavicle was such that the pieces weren’t connected at all. It made the left side shorter than my right side. The crash happened at a race track in Florida. So it took a few days to get back up to Columbus and then I luckily got squeezed in for surgery a week later. And because I was like that for about a week and a half, when the plate and screws were put in it stretched the muscles back out. The muscles on my left side were so tight that I went to the emergency room later that same evening as my surgery.
I couldn’t eat, walk, shower, get dressed or do anything else by myself for the first month. My boyfriend had to do everything for me. I slowly started to be able to do things with less assistance after that first month. But even then I was still extremely limited. I wasn’t even out of my sling for three months after the surgery.
I had never been in so much pain in my entire life. Even with muscle relaxers the muscles in my shoulder and neck were so tight that another chiropractor tried to adjust my neck but all the muscles around that area were “too tight to be adjusted.” They told me to come back when I was more healed and wasn’t so limited in movement.
When nothing worked with the other chiropractor, I went to Dr. Patrick Baker. He was able to give me gentle adjustments that didn’t put me in more pain than I was already in. I never went back to that other chiropractor again. The adjustments and care I get from Baker Chiropractic are the best I have ever received. And thanks to everyone here, I was racing just a couple months after getting out of my sling – about 6 months after my surgery.
The therapy on my shoulder and neck, adjustments, and massages helped me heal, and are still helping me to heal. It also helps me with racing. Racing and all the other activities that are involved in it are very punishing to my body, especially my back. I’m not sure I’d be able to do all that I do without getting chiropractic care.
It’s impossible to know where I would be without Baker Chiropractic and Wellness, but I am very glad that I started going when I did. I have already recommended them to my friends.
I tell anyone that I can about the benefits of chiropractic, especially at Baker’s. Everyone here helped me through the tough healing process, and continues to help me excel at my sport. I couldn’t be more grateful to them for helping me get back to racing and back to my normal life.*
