Hi, I’m Dr. Danny. Today I wanted to talk to you guys about a common concern for patients that are new to our practice.
And their concern is they may be injured during the process of the adjustment. And that’s typically due to something they’ve heard from a friend, possibly a medical doctor, read online, or even maybe a negative result they’ve had in a chiropractic office in the past.
And to that, we just like to say there’s good and bad in anything. There’s good and bad medical doctors, good and bad mechanics, good and bad hairstylists, and the same holds true for chiropractic.
But to determine the safety, especially in a healthcare profession, we can look at malpractice costs. And malpractice insurance is based on claims made across the profession.
And we like to use the analogy of speeding tickets in your car insurance. So, if you’re out driving around fast and you pick up speeding ticket after speeding ticket, your insurance is going to go up. The prices are going to rise every month in every year.
And the same holds true in the healthcare field.
If we as a chiropractic profession are submitting claims for malpractice where we injure somebody, our insurance premiums will go up every year.
So, if we look across the board and here’s a picture of Dr. Patrick’s malpractice costs for last year, we can see that chiropractic itself, his entire malpractice costs for the year are $2,200.
Then, if you look at the typical medical doctor their malpractice is between $7,500 and $8,000 a year. So, almost four times as much.
And then an orthopedic surgeon might pay as much as $30,000 to $50,000.
So, with that being said, across the United States, every day millions of chiropractic adjustments are given.
In our offices every week, we see hundreds of patient visits without injury. Our youngest patients range from days to months old to 99 years old is our oldest patient with no injuries.
So, we can say with absolute certainty in our offices, chiropractic adjustments are extremely safe, and we urge you to find out for yourself.
