My Medical Doctor Told Me I Had Restless Leg Syndrome in My Hands (Really?!)

Restless Leg Syndrome RLS Patient Harvy Thomas
Harvy Thomas and Dr. Paul Baker

“I started coming to Baker Chiropractic in October of 2013.

I had trouble with my hands – numbness (but not going totally numb) and tingling about three years ago. My family doctor said it was probably Carpel Tunnel since I was not a diabetic. I just took it for that because it only happened at night and not all the time. Then last year in January of 2013 my feet and legs started with the same tingling, numbness, burning…mostly at night.

I started reading up on the causes of Neuropathy. Oh my gosh, I thought I was going to have something really bad wrong with me. I made another appointment with my family doctor and he told me to go see a neurologist, which I did.

They did testing on me finding out that I did not have Carpel Tunnel or nerve damage in my hands, legs or feet. So he said that I might have Restless  Leg Syndrome (RLS) and gave me a prescription for a medication that helps people with RLS.  He said he didn’t know what was wrong with my hands and that I could get RLS in my hands. REALLY?!

So I started on the medication. I also started doing all kinds of research on what causes Restless Leg Syndrome and neuropathy along with all the different things I could do to help it get better.

I TRIED EVERYTHING. I started taking more vitamins. Doctor also said I might have a vitamin B-6 or B-12 deficiency, so I started taking those along with my fish oil and my cholesterol medication (low dose). After about three to four months there was no difference in the way I was feeling.

I now had the tingling, numbness and burning all through the day. I was desperate and thought I was going to have to live like this for the rest of my life. So back to the research. One of my daughter-in laws suggested I should try a chiropractor. I thought what the heck. I’ve tried everything else, but like others was skeptical about a chiropractor.

I started looking for chiropractors close to where I worked so I could go during the day.  I was looking at different websites and found Baker Chiropractic and Wellness. I got on their website, got their number and called. I talked to Danielle and she said “Oh yes we can help” and made me an appointment.

Still skeptical, I went to my first appointment. They did x-rays of my back and neck. Then, I had a consultation with Dr. Baker. Boy was I a mess…..worse than what I could have ever imagined.

He said, “Harvy I can help you, it took you a long time to get this way and it will take awhile to get things back in place”. I had pinched nerves in my upper back that caused tingling in my hands. My back was really bad and he said that was the problem with my feet and hands. It all had to do with my nerves!

My husband and I went to the presentation that he gives all new patients and he explained how everything is connected to your spinal cord and nerves and what everything does. WOW, what an eye opener!

Well, I started my first appointment (adjustment) the next week. Dr. Baker had wanted me to come three times a week to start, but I could only come two days a week. By my third adjustment, the tingling and numbness in my hands was almost gone. Now they hardly bother me. AWESOME!

Everyone at Baker Chiropractic is so nice and helpful, they are wonderful. Both Dr. Patrick and Dr. Paul are always asking how you are doing and REALLY care about you and what you are feeling. You can really tell they care and will try to do everything to make things better. They listen and take the time to answer your questions or concerns and offer suggestions on things to do. They encourage you and explain why this or that might be happening.

My legs and feet are much better than before.  There are some days (several days) when they don’t bother me at all. I still have my days with the left side of my leg and feet, BUT NOTHING LIKE BEFORE. .AWESOME!

THEY DEFINITELY HAVE A GIFT FROM GOD… Healing in their hands.

THANK YOU SO MUCH Dr. Patrick, Dr. Paul and everyone at Baker Chiropractic and Wellness for helping me feel better again.”*
