Want to Reduce Your Health Care Costs? Make Baker Chiropractic Your First Visit

A new study published in the December 2010 issue of Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics finds that care and treatment for low back pain started with a doctor of chiropractic saves 40% on health care costs when compared with care initiated by a medical doctor.

“This study is not surprising,” said Drs. Paul and Patrick Baker of Baker Chiropractic. “We routinely see new patients who come to us after becoming frustrated and exhausted with their medical care. They’ve wasted a lot of time and are looking for answers that do not involve drugs or surgery,” they added. “If patients come to us first, we are typically able to locate the source of their pain and treat it with safe and effective chiropractic adjustments. However, there are occasions where we may need to refer a patient to a medical doctor to resolve the pain. Using Chiropractic Care and Medical Care is a powerful and efficient combination for people if utilized in that order. It will save time and money,” advised Drs. Paul and Patrick.

The above referenced study was conducted over a 2-year period and analyzed data from 85,000 Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance beneficiaries. The results of the study show that paid costs for care initiated by a DC (doctor of chiropractic) were almost 40 percent less than care initiated by a Medical Doctor (MD). The researchers estimated that starting with chiropractic care would have saved Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee over $2.3 million annually.
