Plantar Fasciitis treatment & heel pain relief
Recovering from Plantar Fasciitis Starts Here
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain. It involves irritation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that supports the arch of your foot.
Pain is often strongest with the first steps in the morning or after sitting for a while. It may also increase after long periods of standing, walking, running or other weight-bearing activity.
The plantar fascia supports the arch of the foot and helps absorb forces during everyday movement. Symptoms may include sharp or aching pain near the bottom of the heel, tenderness, and discomfort after standing or walking.
At Baker Chiropractic and Wellness, we take time to understand your symptoms, activity levels and goals. We discuss appropriate conservative options based on your needs and whether medical evaluation or referral is recommended.
If you are experiencing heel and foot pain after an accident, call (513) 561-2273 or schedule an appointment to discuss the next steps.

Know the signs
Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms
Plantar fasciitis symptoms vary from person to person. Common signs may include:
Heel pain with first steps
Sharp or aching pain near the bottom of the heel, often strongest after rest or first thing in the morning.
Pain after activity
Heel or arch discomfort that increases after long periods of standing, walking or running.
Tenderness under the heel
The bottom of the heel may feel tender when pressure is applied.
Tight calf muscles
Limited calf or ankle flexibility may increase strain on the plantar fascia.
Stiffness after rest
The first steps after sitting or sleeping may feel especially uncomfortable.
Changes in walking
Pain may cause you to change how you stand or walk. Persistent or unusual symptoms deserve assessment.
Seek prompt medical assessment if heel pain follows a significant injury, you cannot bear weight, there is marked swelling or redness, you have fever or an open wound, or you develop new numbness. A clinician can assess other possible causes of heel pain.
Understand the injury
How the Plantar Fascia Functions
During a sudden impact, the head and foot may move quickly in different directions. This can place strain on soft tissues around the foot. The extent of injury varies, and symptoms alone cannot reliably determine which structures are involved.
A healthcare professional can review how the injury occurred, check for warning signs and decide whether imaging or further medical assessment is needed before conservative care is considered.
A personalized approach
How We Help at Baker Chiropractic
We begin by reviewing your symptoms, activity history and goals. Depending on your individual assessment, care may include guidance on movement, activity modification and conservative options. Your plan should be tailored to your needs, and referral may be recommended when appropriate.
Your first visit
What to Expect
Discuss your symptoms
We ask when the pain started, what makes it better or worse, and how it affects daily activities.
Review foot function and movement
When appropriate, we review relevant movement, walking comfort and functional concerns.
Explain the options
We discuss whether conservative care is appropriate or whether medical evaluation should come first.
Plan next steps
If suitable, we discuss an individualized plan and ways to return to daily activities safely.

Helpful Steps During Recovery
Follow your healthcare professional’s advice. Supportive footwear and a gradual return to activity may help, while suddenly increasing running, jumping or prolonged standing can aggravate symptoms. Gentle calf or foot stretches may be appropriate for some people, but stop if pain increases. Seek reassessment if symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear.

What Research Supports
For many muscle, joint and spine problems, clinical guidelines recommend conservative, non-drug care first. Exercise, staying active and hands-on care may all be part of a plan.

For many muscle, joint and spine conditions, clinical guidelines recommend trying conservative, non-surgical care first, unless there are warning signs.
- Exercise and staying active are a key part of care for most of these conditions.
- Hands-on care, such as chiropractic adjustments, joint mobilisation and soft tissue work, may help some patients, mainly when combined with exercise.
- Imaging such as X-rays or MRI is not needed for everyone. It is used when your exam shows it is likely to change your care.
- The strength of the research differs by condition. For some conditions the evidence is stronger, and for others it is more limited. We explain this honestly when we discuss your plan.
What Our Exam Measures
Depending on your symptoms, your exam may check movement, range of motion, strength, sensation, reflexes and how your symptoms affect daily life. This gives you a clear starting point.

Every assessment at Baker follows four steps: Measure → Explain → Plan → Reassess.
Measure. Based on your needs, your exam may include:
- Your health history, symptoms and goals
- Orthopedic and neurological tests, such as reflexes, strength and sensation
- Range of motion of the affected area
- Muscle strength, comparing both sides
- A posture, movement or walking check
- X-rays, only when your exam shows they are needed
Explain. We go through your findings in plain language and give you a written summary to take home.
Plan. Each part of your plan is linked to something we measured.
Reassess. At set check-points, we repeat key measurements so you can compare your progress with your starting point.
What the Measurement Cannot Tell Us
No single test can explain every cause of pain or predict a recovery time. We read your results together with your history and how you feel day to day.
Learn More →
Measurements help us understand how your body is working, but they have limits:
- An X-ray shows bones and joints. It does not show how much pain you feel.
- Many people have changes on an X-ray or MRI and no pain at all.
- Range-of-motion and strength numbers show how you move and function. They do not measure pain directly.
- A test result or scan is one piece of information. It is not proof that pain is cured.
That's why we never base your care on one test alone. We combine your exam, your history and your own report of how you are doing.
When We Refer to Another Doctor
Some conditions need medical care first. If your symptoms or exam suggest it, we will refer you to the right doctor or specialist.
Read Warning Signs →
We will refer you, or ask you to get medical care, if you have:
- Pain after a serious fall, accident or injury
- Numbness, tingling or weakness that is getting worse
- Fever, unexplained weight loss or a history of cancer
- A joint that is red, hot and swollen
- Severe pain at night or at rest that does not change with position
- Symptoms that are not improving after a fair trial of care
If chiropractic care is not right for your condition, we will tell you honestly. We are also happy to work alongside your medical doctor, physical therapist or specialist.
Get emergency medical care right away for: loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin or inner thighs, sudden or worsening weakness, a sudden severe headache, chest pain, or trouble speaking, seeing or walking. Do not wait for a chiropractic visit.
Results Vary from Person to Person
Results depend on your condition, how long you have had symptoms, your general health, your activity and how you respond to care. No outcome or recovery time is guaranteed.
Learn More →
Chiropractic care may help appropriately selected patients manage certain muscle, joint and spine symptoms, move better and return to their activities. But every person is different. How quickly you improve can depend on:
- Your condition and how long you have had it
- Your work, activity level and sleep
- Your general health
- How well you can follow your home exercises
Some conditions need medical evaluation or care from more than one provider. That's why we re-check your progress at set points, instead of promising results.
