WHAT IT IS

What it is:

An adjustment is a controlled, hands-on movement applied to a joint in the spine or elsewhere in the body. It aims to improve joint movement and reduce stiffness. Gentler methods without quick movements are also available.

WHEN WE MAY RECOMMEND IT

When we may recommend it:

01

Your exam shows limited or stiff joint movement

02

Your range of motion is reduced

03

Your symptoms are linked to how a joint is moving

YOUR VISIT

Know What to Expect

What to expect:

Your doctor explains what they will do before starting. Some adjustments make a popping sound, and some people feel mild soreness for a day or two afterwards.

Your doctor explains the process before starting.

How we check progress:

We re-measure range of motion, movement and how well you can do daily tasks, and compare them with your baseline.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR CARE

What Adjustments Can and Cannot Do

What it can and cannot do:

Adjustments may help improve joint movement and comfort for some patients. They are usually most helpful as part of a plan that includes exercise. They do not change bone structure, reverse arthritis or cure disease.

Clear, realistic information about chiropractic care.

PATIENT SAFETY

When it may not be right for you

We may use a different method, or refer you, if you have severe osteoporosis, a recent fracture, certain blood vessel or nerve conditions, or other findings that make adjustments unsafe.
